Jasper County has a super enhanced 911 system. With all the publicity about 911 in the Metro Atlanta papers, there are many questions about when you need to dial 911. You should call 911 if you have any life-threatening emergency, any time you need someone (police, deputy, fire, EMS, or game warden) to respond to your location - for instance to report any crime in progress or prior, any time an incident report is needed (vandalism, burglaries, minor traffic accidents), things not considered life- threatening but requiring the need of an officer, or when you just don't know who to call.
|
When Not to Call 911
You should not call 911 when you need a telephone number, when you want to complain about county or city departments or officials, when you wish to find out information about an arrest (i.e. bond amounts, court dates, visiting hours), when you want to obtain information about court matters (i.e. warrants, court dates, traffic ticket information), when you want to obtain special dates (i.e. hunting seasons, festival dates, town meetings), when you want to obtain information on weather conditions, road conditions, or power outages.
|
Reverse 911
Jasper County also has a Reverse 911 system. This system is used to warn people about severe weather threats, to send people information about a missing person in their community, or any other type of emergency that you as a resident of Jasper County need to know about quickly. The Jasper County Reverse 911 system must be periodically checked, so you may receive a test phone call. |
