The Monticello Garden Club has the distinction of being the second oldest garden club in the nation - organized May 1896. The first meeting was held in the home of Mrs. Milton Benton at 248 West Greene Street in Monticello (which now is MeMe's Antiques and Gifts). The motto of the garden club is "MONTICELLO'S BEAUTY, OUR CIVIC DUTY" and over the years they continue to promote and support projects for community beautification. |
