Glenn Newsome was elected Mayor of Monticello in November 2007. He served two terms on the Monticello City Council prior to being elected Mayor. He and his wife Nancy have lived in Monticello and Jasper County for more than 30 years. Newsome has a long history of service to education in Georgia much of it at the state level. Glenn completed his 32 years of service with the state by serving as Executive Director of the Georgia Student Finance Commission for six years. Glenn and Nancy have four grown children all of whom graduated from Jasper County High School. He is an active member of Monticello Presbyterian Church.
